Times have changed. Today we live in an increasingly connected online world and data moves from one end of the world to the other in a matter of seconds. The internet is a busy place.
In 1995, less than 1% of the world population was online. From 1999 to 2013, the number of internet users has increased tenfold. Today more than 4.1bn people have an internet connection and the number is growing at a rate of around 10 people a second.
Technological change is happening at lightning speed and everything is becoming digital. It has transformed how we shop, work, communicate and even elect leaders.
According to a Pew Research Center survey conducted in January 2018, about a quarter of U.S. adults say they use the internet “almost constantly” and 77% say they use it on a daily basis.

- 188 million emails sent
- 3.8 million Google searches
- 1 million Facebook logins
- 694,444 hours watched on Netflix
- 4.5 million videos watched on YouTube
- 390,030 apps downloaded on the Apple App and Google Play combined
- 41.6 million messages sent on WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger
- 1.4 million swipes on Tinder
- 87,500 people Tweeting
- 2.1 Snapchats sent
That same minute on the internet also contains around 347,222 scrolls on Instagram and almost a million dollars spent online.
